Central Park is one of the most famous and iconic parks in the world. Year around millions of people travel from all around the world to see it. It is featured in many high profile blockbuster films and series such as Elf, Home Alone, The Avengers, The Devil Wears Prada, Spiderman, Sex in the City, Gossip Girl and many more. It is truly beautiful in all seasons and is unlike any other park in the world because it is located right in the middle of Manhattan, New York City.

“Where should I propose in Central Park?” You ask. Here’s 14 places:

Central Park

  1. Belvedere Castle
  2. Bow Bridge
  3. Cop Cot
  4. Propose on the Gondola
  5. Cats Rock
  6. Bethesda Fountain Terrace
  7. Wagner Cove
  8. Dene Summerhouse
  9. Shakespeare Garden
  10. Gapstow Bridge
  11. Ladies Pavilion
  12. The Pool
  13. Pinebank Arch
  14. Strawberry Fields

Belvedere Castle

If you are looking for beautiful views, Belvedere Castle will not disappoint. It’s name in Italian even meaning, “beautiful views.” This location will truly make you feel as if you are in a fairy tale, setting the mood just right for the perfect proposal.

Bow Bridge

This bridge is arguably the most romantic bridge in the world. You will feel love in the air as you get down on one knee here. For the most privacy and the best lighting for your pictures come here in the morning.

Cop Cot

Cop Cot is a beautiful gazebo location offering amazing views, privacy and an in nature vibe. The gazebo is located on the top of a hill overlooking the park and some of Central Park South. All times of the day are beautiful here. Enjoy the shade while you get down on one knee.

Propose on the Gondola

Personally one of my favorites, you can take a private gondola from the boat house to propose under the Bow Bridge or in front of the Bethesda Terrace. This option is amazing for photos and guarantees a certain level of privacy.

Cats Rock

For epic photos with the Manhattan skyline in the background propose on Cats Rock. The backdrop on this location is very unique because of the dramatic contrast of nature to big city.

Bethesda Fountain Terrace

Bethesda Fountain Terrace is likely the most famous and popular place in Central Park. If you would like to propose here I would advise to do it early in the morning. While this place is crowded, it is very beautiful and if you can avoid the crowd it is the perfect place to get on one knee.

Wagner Cove

One of Central Park’s lesser-known treasures. It is a quaint little gazebo located on the Lake which provides a private, intimate area for marriage proposals. It is located mid-park at 72nd St., just west of Cherry Hill.

Dene Summerhouse

A beautiful rustic-style gazebo with views of beautifully landscaped meadows on the east side of Central Park.

Shakespeare Garden

This beautiful garden is located between the Swedish Cottage and the Belvedere Castle. This is the perfect spot for a nature proposal with flowers and greenery all around.

Gapstow Bridge

This bridge is a classic small stone bridge which can provide the perfect backdrop to your pictures. I would not recommend to propose on the bridge, it can be crowded and it is quite small, but rather north of the bridge with the bridge and skyline in the background.

Ladies Pavilion

An elegant antique-styled pavilion with beautiful views of The Lake. This spot is a highly desired location for weddings, photoshoots, engagements, and more.

The Pool

The least-known body of water in Central Park, The Pool offers calm water and small secluded waterfalls. This is a great spot for peace and quiet for your big moment.

Pinebank Arch

This will be a less popular and therefore, more private place to propose. You can propose on, under or near the bridge for great pictures with the New York skyline in the background.

Strawberry Fields

If you and your lover are fans of The Beatles or John Lennon, this spot could be perfect for your proposal. Just a short walk from Central Park West and W 72nd Street, here you will find beautiful trees creating an elegant canopy over you as well as the iconic Strawberry Fields Memorial.

Hope one of these 14 places to propose works for you! Best of luck on your big question!
